The Martial Art That Changes Everything — Including How You Move, Breathe, and Think.
Systema Colorado — Russian Martial Art training in Longmont, CO. Open to complete beginners and experienced martial artists alike.
If you’ve trained in other martial arts, you already sense that something is missing. The techniques that fall apart under pressure. The rigid hierarchy. The gap between what you practice and what would actually work.
If you’ve never trained at all, you’re starting in exactly the right place.
Systema is unlike anything you’ve experienced. No belts. No uniforms. No memorized techniques. No forms. Just principled, adaptive training that works with your body’s natural movement — and gets more effective the more relaxed you become.
One class will tell you more than any description can.
What makes Systema different.
It works for everyone — regardless of size, age, or experience.
Systema is not a young person’s art or an athlete’s art. It’s a human being’s art. The principles of natural movement, breath, and relaxation apply equally to a 25-year-old and a 60-year-old. Everyone trains together, everyone improves at their own level, and nobody is left behind.
No techniques to memorize — your body learns to respond.
Most martial arts give you an arsenal of specific counters for specific attacks. Systema works in the opposite direction: it develops the underlying principles of movement and awareness so that your body responds naturally to whatever situation you’re in. You can’t think and fight. Systema trains you so you don’t have to.
No belts, no hierarchy, no ego.
You are treated with the respect you’re due as a person — not based on a colored belt. There is no pecking order, no “fresh meat” mentality, no pressure to perform for rank. What you’ll find instead is a cooperative training environment where students genuinely help each other improve.
A complete system — not just self-defense.
Proper breathing. Deep relaxation. Joint mobility. Structural alignment. Psychological awareness. Systema addresses the physical, mental, and emotional dimensions of a human being — because all three are present in any real confrontation, and all three matter in daily life. The health work improves your self-defense. The self-defense training improves your health. Everything reinforces everything else.
Every class is different.
There is no curriculum to fall behind on. Because Systema is based on principles rather than techniques, every class explores something new. Miss a class and you miss that exploration — but you never fall behind. Just come back and keep going.
Who trains here.
Our students include complete beginners who have never trained a day in their lives, experienced martial artists from Kenpo, HapKiDo, Judo, Kung Fu, Thai Boxing, and other arts, law enforcement officers, medical professionals, and everyone in between. What they share is curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to be challenged.
What students say.
“Most martial arts are a branch of the whole tree. Systema is not just a derivative — it’s the tree.”
— Hadi Ali
“I’ve trained in Kung-Fu, Kenpo, Kali, Thai Boxing, Hsing-I, and Tai Chi. Systema, of all the arts I’ve done, is the most unique. I love the mental characteristics it cultivates — a relaxed mind especially, that keeps you in the flow state.”
— Thornton Chamberlain
“Brad is one of the best instructors you’ll find. This style allows everybody to train together regardless of abilities or experience. This is by far the best hands-on training I’ve experienced.”
— Dale Goertz
“I had trained at Brad’s Systema school for 10 years and learned principles that have been very beneficial since moving away. I always am asked where I learned to move so well.”
— Mike Wurm
“Brad is one of the best teachers and most effective communicators I have personally encountered in any field of endeavor. He conducts his classes with a unique combination of humor, wit, and genuine skill.”
— Systema Colorado student
